Abstract:Due to the development of today’s society and the requirements of the times, traditional teaching methods cannot have too many positive roles. For primary school students, interest is their best teacher. While games are the most popular and accepted teaching method for children, it can help teachers stimulate students’ learning interest and better teach students’ knowledge. The so-called game teaching method is to change the tradition and boring method of oral teaching knowledge in teaching, using the form of games that students are more willing to accept, to stimulate interest, to create a good learning atmosphere and to concentrate students' attention to achieve the effect of learning while playing.
With the induction method, this paper summarizes the collected data, affirms the positive role of game teaching method in English classroom teaching, analyzes the main problems existing in the current application of game teaching method and then puts forward teaching suggestions and strategies. It is pointed out that teachers should take all aspects of factors into consideration when preparing lessons, and make careful design, proper organization and reasonable arrangement since the acceptance of the game should be all oriented. When encountering “minor accidents”, teachers should be flexible and try not to disrupt classroom teaching. Teachers also should improve their professional level through continuous learning and examination, regulating game time, managing classroom discipline, and giving objective and fair evaluation to the results of the game.
