【摘要】张之洞是晚清洋务派的核心代表人物，他肯定并且使用西学，在践行的过程中，试图将西学的“体”当做维护封建王朝的“用”。在他的思想框架内，报纸是政体、国体、官体的利器，如果使用得当，对清王朝的统治具有无限的积极意义，但他忽略了一个重要的细节，报纸是西方的舶来品，在资本主义的土地上成长起开的苗，如果离开了自由而宽松的土壤，必然会死亡。
本文探讨的张之洞对近代报业的“扶”与“压”，从两个截然不同的对立面分析了张之洞的报业思想以及他对报纸的认识。与此同时，基本勾勒出洋务派对近代报业的影响，以及对报纸的矛盾解读。

【Abstract】Zhang Zhidong ,a famous educator in mordern and contemporary China ,devoted his lifetime to launching schools and running newspapers .He did not stop his undertaking until the day he died .Being a chief minister in the Qing Dynasty government ,he made promoting learning and cultivating talents an important step to establish and rejuvenate our country and he was irrevocably committed to the course of newspaper.
