摘要:本文在对美国进步运动时期环境保护政策进行学习与研究的基础上，运用历史学、政治学、社会学等多方面的方法，对美国进步运动时期的环境保护政策这一问题进行研究。

研究的内容包括美国进步运动时期环境保护政策推行的背景、过程以及其影响，总结美国环境保护的经验和教训。

环境问题是世界性问题，是关系到人类生存和发展的关键问题。而美国进步运动时期的历史背景和遇到的问题，在很大程度上和当今中国发展的现状存在一定的相似性。因此，我国要以此为鉴，在进行社会主义建设的同时，要平衡环境保护、资源开发和经济建设之间的关系，避免走美国“先污染，后治理”的老路。要调节这两者的关系，既要依靠公民的自觉行动，又要依靠政府的政策法规作保证、依靠社会的组织教育来引导。吸取这样的经验和教训，为中国当前的社会主义建设与改革进程提供镜鉴与参照。
