Abstract

Under the background of the reform of new curriculum, the traditional teaching model has undergone profound changes in its content and form. Teaching in small-sized class has become the trend of education and teaching innovation, and the application of it in the English teaching of primary school conforms to the psychological characteristics of pupil, and improves the quality of classroom teaching. This thesis firstly presents and analyzes the two different classroom sizes of English teaching, and then makes a brief literature review on the small-sized class of English teaching in primary school. Afterwards it introduces the large-scale class and small-sized class, which is promoted under the new curriculum. According to a comparative study between large-scale class and small-sized class of English classroom teaching, this thesis finds out the advantages and disadvantages of the two different classroom sizes. In particular, it mainly focuses on the advantages of small-sized class teaching. At last, this thesis puts forward some methods and measures to carry out small-sized class, in order to improve the teaching efficiency in large-scale class.
