Abstract
How to define the roles and the status of English teachers in primary has been a controversial issue for decades. Traditional teaching mode neglects children’s individuality and autonomy and stops children from overall development. This dissertation aims to delve into the different roles of an English teacher in primary school, such as instructor, organizer, assessor and so on. It will mainly talk about what roles should be chosen in what teaching situations and why should we change.
