Abstract
With the development of the times, English has become more and more important in all fields of society. Learning methods have gone through numerous reforms. Nevertheless, many students are not interested in English learning. As is known to all, English learning is not only decided by pupils themselves, but also influenced by many external factors, such as the educational system, teachers, the social environment and so on. Interest is the most important element in studying English. It can enrich students’ knowledge, open students’ mind and make up for a weakness of intelligent development. It’s the key to success. This dissertation presents some opinions and methods to arouse students’ interest in English learning. The students will not feel that learning is a burden if they are interested in studying. On the contrary, they will put their hearts into learning actively. For this reason, teachers should focus on students and organize effective activities as much as possible, such as English singing competitions, reading competitions, etc, to stimulate students’ enthusiasm of learning English. Besides, teachers should cultivate good learning habits for students. Meanwhile, teachers need to create a good learning environment, so that they obtain knowledge and increase interest in a harmonious environment. In addition, teachers should strive to build up a good relationship between teachers and students. A successful language teacher should put the theory into practice. The method of language teaching should be constantly updated in the process of self promotion. Teachers need to arouse students’ interest efficiently until best results are achieved.
