Abstract
With the popularization of compulsory education and quality-oriented education, the quality of education and classroom teaching require much higher demands and objectives. But there are still some problems in English classroom teaching in primary school. For example, the efficient time of pupils' attention lasts shortly; learning efficiency is low; classroom teaching lacks of correct guidance; and the lack of overall design and systematic reflection and so on. This thesis is based on the study of effective teaching, which attempts to demonstrate the shortcomings in educational model, analyzing the existing phenomena and problems in English classroom teaching, and exploring some teaching methods in efficiently under the requirements and guidance of the curriculum standard reform. It is regarded that English teaching plays a significant role during the overall development of pupils´ educational progress. This thesis discusses the definition of effective teaching, principles and the modern tendency of effective teaching as well as in practical use. Effective teaching in English classroom teaching has great effects on compulsory education and quality education. This thesis provides theoretical and practical measures to cope with those phenomena and issues, to have a better use of effective teaching practice to guide English classroom teaching activities, so as to improve the efficiency of English classroom teaching in primary school.
