Abstract
Positive Psychology is a new area risen in the late 20th century in the United States which suggests to transfer people’s focus from "psychological problems" to "people’s positive energy", using scientific methods to mobilize people’s positive force, quality, intelligence and creativity and increasingly promoting social harmony. In this perspective, primary English teaching is an ongoing process of psychological adjustment.It fills the forefront of positive psychology theory to teaching English,trying to apply this theory to practice and stimulating students' interest and potential in learning English.This paper investigates students’ positivity of learning English in current primary English teaching through the way of questionnaires, interviews and classroom observation and analyzes the results from four aspects, "students", "teachers","teacher-student relationship" and "environment of learning English".We try our effort to infuse positive psychology into primary English teaching, hoping to explore more effective methods of primary English teaching.Based on the above, this paper associating with the theory of positive psychology, initially builds up a positive system of primary English teaching.Firstly, raising students' positive affection in English teaching to create problem situations,which can avoid the generation of negative emotions. The second is to enhance teachers' teaching enthusiasm, passing the class with the body language to express positive signal,which can establish a positive attitude toward life and work . The third one is to build a harmonious relationship between teachers and students.Teacher sshould give proper evaluation to each student and accept individual differences of students . The last is to create a positive learning environment, building relaxing environment of in-out class.
