Abstract
English as a new language for primary school students is attractive to them. Vocabulary is the basis of learning English well, so teachers must pay close attention to vocabulary teaching in primary school English instruction. According to the psychological characteristics of primary school students, game teaching is a useful method. This study systematically introduces the game teaching method through the definition, classification, characteristics and previous studies of the game teaching method. It presents the important principles of applying game teaching method and specific use of games, which demonstrates the feasibility of game teaching method in primary school English vocabulary teaching. Moreover, the significance of game teaching method in primary school English teaching is discussed.
