Abstract
English teaching is an important part of education in primary school, which shoulders the responsibility of teaching basic knowledge of English to the students in primary, providing the students with the listening, speaking, reading and writing ability, as well as the obligation of carrying out ideological education and cultivating their noble and healthy sentiment. In teaching, the teachers should pay special attention to stimulating students’ desire to learn English and give full play to their initiative, which demands enough lead-in preparation before class. The lead-in of new lessons in primary school bears a direct impact on the quality of the classroom teaching. An appropriate lead-in can improve students’ interest and classroom efficiency. In this stage, a teacher should take advantage of different teaching materials, such as multimedia technology, interesting pictures to introduce his new lesson. Students’ vivid and humorous performances can also be used to lead in a new lesson. This thesis’s purposes are to make primary English teachers know the significance of lead-in in classroom instruction and help them improve their teaching skills.
