Abstract

 

Nowadays, many English teachers pay much attention to elementary school English teaching. The goal of English teaching in elementary schools is to develop students’ comprehensive language skills. The teaching method which enables the pupil’s to practice oral English, and develop their communicative ability, also can improve their social communication skills. This is the topic that many English teachers are researching. So the research into the application of role playing in English teaching in elementary schools has become more and more important. It helps to develop students’ interest in learning English. It helps to cultivate students’ communicative ability in the English language. It helps students to master knowledge in a relaxed atmosphere. The traditional English language teaching can’t give students a real situation to practice the knowledge they’ve learned. In classroom, teachers should encourage students to participate in the activities and increase their motivation of learning English. Role-play is a very effective way of developing students’ interest in English learning. It gets rid of the barriers of traditional teaching, creates a relaxed learning environment to stimulate students’ learning enthusiasm.
