Abstract
In recent years, the function of listening becomes more and more outstanding in English learning. In English tests such as CET 4, CET 6, TEM-4 and TEM-8, listening holds a high percentage. Whether in the examinations or in daily life, listening is always a headache to students and it is the weakness of most students. Listening teaching at primary schools is particularly fundamental, as it is the initial stage of English teaching.
Based on the basic features of English listening teaching in primary school as well as the related findings at home and abroad, the thesis elaborates the factors affecting listening teaching, the principles and strategies of listening teaching, and the three stages of listening teaching. Hopefully this will provide primary English teachers with some insights to improve their listening teaching practice.
