Abstract
Classroom questioning is a main part of classroom teaching and an essential method to get teaching art; it is a method to encourage students to communicate with teachers in the process of teaching; it is an approach to promoting students’ development of thinking. With the rapid development of science and technology, more and more new technological methods in education are appeared in classroom teaching. But the role of classroom questioning cannot be replaced because of its significance. Questioning, which is widely used in practice, plays a very crucial role in classroom teaching. Questioning in English classroom teaching which requires teachers to set up a series of problem situations according to the specific teaching aim and teaching content so as to enhance the quality of teaching. The dissertation adopts the methods of teachers’ interview and classroom observation. It analyses the current situation of primary school classroom questioning and points out the defects. In the end, the dissertation will give some effective suggestions concerning particular cases. The dissertation aims to emphasize the importance of effective questioning.
