Abstract
As the English language teaching is reformed continuously, numerous educators exert themselves to find modern ways in teaching English. In the past, teachers only put an emphasis on knowledge in books and spoken language, they overlook the effect of body language without any doubt. Generally speaking, as a part of nonverbal communication, body language plays a great important role in the process of teaching English. The dissertation analyzes the application of body language in primary school English teaching from four aspects. Because students are too young to own abundant vocabulary, teachers’ main tasks are to help students learn about the teaching contents and words’ implications. Good results can be achieved as long as teachers use body language properly. First, students can indulge in a vigorous atmosphere for learning. A harmonious relationship between students and teachers can be gained. Next, students’ interest in learning English is to be inspired beneficially. Then, students’ thinking, imaginative and imitative abilities can be improved. At last, the effect on studying English can be enhanced .
