Abstract
Mind mapping is a visual tool for the knowledge representing and also an approach which embodies divergent thinking. Nowadays, mind mapping is widely used all over the world. However, the research of mind mapping in China, especially that on the application to the blackboard design in primary English teaching is few. The thesis first makes a brief introduction to the principles of blackboard design, definition of mind mapping and the methods of drawing mind maps. Then through questionnaires and classroom observation, a case study is carried out to testify its effects and significance of applying mind mapping to blackboard design in primary English teaching. Hopefully this will provide primary English teachers with some insights to improve their teaching practice.
