Abstract: The English version of Chinese university web is the window of communication oversea. But due to the discrepancy in language custom, the introduction of English version of Chinese university website is different from that of the famous foreign university website. This thesis tries to compare the English introductions between Chinese universities and foreign ones so that we have a clear picture of the similarities and differences of how they compose this kind of text. Furthermore, by studying the text, we can learn a lot from the way the introduction is presented in aspect of language, content, format. The contrastive analysis of common features of the two texts is presented in aspect of academic features, flowery expressions, school history and campus life.
