Abstract:Vocabulary learning plays a prominent role in language learning. So it attracts lots of scholars to study vocabulary learning strategy. This research, based on related theories of vocabulary learning strategy, makes a survey on the first-year and fourth-year English majors of the College of Arts and Science of Beijing Union University. The purpose is to find out what characteristics in VLS the two groups of students: the first-year and fourth-year English majors have and how the two groups are different in VLS, so as to give suggestions to the learners and teachers in vocabulary learning and teaching.

摘要:词汇学习是英语语言学习的基础,因此针对词汇学习策略的研究众多。本研究以词汇学习策略的相关理论为基础,采用问卷调查的形式,对北京联合大学应用文理学院英语专业一年级和四年级学生的英语词汇学习策略进行调查。本研究目的是调查英语专业一年级和四年级学生常用和不常用的词汇学习策略,比较一年级和四年级在词汇学习策略的不同,发现各自特点,加以分析讨论,提出对学习者和教师的建议,为后人研究提供参考。

The paper tries to find out what characteristics in VLS the two groups of students, the first-year and fourth-year English majors have and how the two groups are different in their use of VLS. This paper is made of five parts. The first part is introduction. The second part is literature review which is a brief introduction about the theories employed by the author and also the VLS research done in the past. Part 3 is methodology which contains research questions and research design to introduce the subjects, the questionnaire and how data were collected. Part 4 is findings and discussion. The last part is conclusion, implications and limitations of the research.
