Abstract:Met cognition refers to individual‘s cognitive ability and cognitive understanding and monitoring activities, which proposed by American psychologists J.H.Flavell, and no sooner later it became one of research subjects of cognitive psychology and educational psychology. Based on some relevant theories of met cognition and met cognitive strategies, the author investigated 90 Non-English major students of Grade one in Hong he University through questionnaires in order to find out the students’ applications of met cognitive strategies in English reading. The findings are:1. Most of students have some met cognitive awareness ,they can use some of the met cognitive strategies while reading; 2. Their awareness of met cognitive strategies use is still very low; 3.They couldn’t use met cognitive strategies effectively to help their reading every time. It indicates that their awareness of met cognition is not enough. More concerns should be given to the students’ use of met cognitive strategies in their reading.

中文摘要:元认知是指个体对自己的认知能力和认知活动的了解和监控,它由美国心理学家J.H.Flavell 提出,并很快成为认知心理学和教育心理学研究的对象之一。本研究结合国内外相关文献研究,并通过问卷调查对红河学院90名大一非英语专业学生在英语阅读过程中元认知策略的使用情况进行了调查与分析。在此过程中探索了元认知的内涵及元认知策略与英语阅读的关系,通过调查了解到:1.大多数学生都具有一定的元认知意识,在阅读过程中会应用到一定的元认知策略知识;2.从他们对三种策略的使用频率来看,他们对元认知和元认知策略的认识仅仅是处在一个低层次阶段;3. 他们并不是在每一次的阅读中都能应用元认知策略来辅助阅读,这说明他们的元认知意识还很薄弱。从结果分析可以看出,他们只是在潜意识中偶尔运用元认知策略,究其原因,最重要的是因为他们对元认知和元认知策略的概念和内涵没有一个明确清晰的认识。这是一个值得引起老师和学生关注的问题,要想在阅读中有效的使用元认知策略,要想提高英语阅读水平,关键在于要让学生对元认知的概念内涵有一个深入的了解,老师就要起到一个引导的作用,培养学生的元认知意识和元认知策略的应用能力。
