Abstract: This paper aims to find out possible ways to improve learner autonomy in college English learning. Based on some researches concerning learner autonomy, the present study explains the significance of developing learner autonomy, and then discusses some factors that affect learner autonomy. The subjects of the survey are 65 students majoring in Business English in Nanjing Xiaozhuang College. Based on data analysis, it is concluded that it is possible to develop learner autonomy in this college. Most students in this study are willing to take responsibility in language learning; meanwhile, teachers should act as facilitators, consultants rather than only classroom controllers. Accordingly, teachers are expected to change their roles from instructors to the ones that can help students improve their learning strategies.

摘要:本文探讨如何提高大学生的英语自主学习能力。基于一些研究理论,本文首先介绍自主学习的重要发展,分析影响自主学习能力的要素。本文以学院商务英语专业07级的65名同学为访问对象,以了解大学生自主学习的现状。通过数据分析,作者得出以下结论:在该校培养大学生自主学习能力是可行的。大多数学生乐意为自己的学习负责,同时老师应当成为促成者,咨询者而不是课堂的操控者。因此,教师需要转变角色,在教学实践中有实践指导意义。
