Abstract:With the rapid development of global economy and the integration of world economy and culture, cultural exchange between China and The West is becoming increasingly extensive. Many western festivals and customs are also gradually introduced into China and accepted by the masses, such as Christmas, April Fool’s Day and the Valentine's Day have been introduced to China and accepted by more and more people. By contrast, some Chinese traditional festivals, such as the Spring Festival, the Dragon Boat Festival, and the Mid-Autumn festival are being ignored by Chinese people. Traditional festivals come from traditional agricultural society but now are losing their vitality and are faced with an overall decline. Nowadays, many Chinese people enjoy western festivals, especially western Valentine’s Day. Meanwhile, the Double Seventh Day is facing the plight of survival. To revive the Double Seventh Day, we should try our best to support traditional culture. While we absorb the quintessence of other countries’ culture, we should increasingly enrich the cultural connotation of tradition Chinese festivals.
