INTRODUCTION
The book “The Floating Island” mainly introduces the story of doll’s family. A doll family lives in a doll house happily in a toy shop. One day, Elizabeth’s uncle wants to buy a gift to his niece Elizabeth. When he steps into the toy store, he picks up the doll family and their doll house. Then a family of dolls with their friends are wrapped up in their house for shipping. Along the way they get shipwrecked and survive on a floating island. Unfortunately, they are scattered by waves. Despite the difficulties, they all reunite and set up their new home on the floating island with the help of others. And the dolls get familiar with the native animals gradually, and at the same time they are adapted in the island too. They explore the island with their curiosity and their adventures on the floating island and they are full of humor and fun.
The book is written for a younger audience with lots of footnotes and illustrations about different animals lives in the sea and island so that it will be well received by young readers. This essay translates the 13-22 chapters and it fully demonstrates exiting adventures about Mr. Doll, Mrs. Doll, William and Dinah on the floating island and finally they overcome all the difficulties and get together on the floating island.
These chapters seem to be a simple and independent story, but actually they are interactive. Through their different stories, author wants to tell us that we should stay in an original mind when we meet problems in our daily life. Whatever we meet, we should be full of love , confidence and courage towards life.
