Abstract: Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) Method, dated back to the late 1960s, emphasizes the cultivation of students’ communicative competence, which may help to meet the demands of globalization. Though it has been introduced into China for nearly two decades, it is not widely used in middle schools. After a brief introduction to the CLT method, this paper analyzes the current situation of English teaching in Chinese middle schools and reveals the possible obstacles for applying CLT in teaching and finally proposes the ways to improve its application.

摘要:交际语言教学法产生于20世纪60年代晚期,它强调培养学生的交际能力,这一点正符合当代全球化的要求。然而,交际法虽已引入中国多年,在中学中却未被广泛采用。本论文拟简要介绍交际法,分析当前中学英语教育的现状以揭示交际法使用可能存在的障碍,并提出一些改善的措施。
