Abstract: As the mainstream of the present evaluation, formative assessment can provide both teachers and students with useful information for their future development. This paper makes an attempt to explore the use of formative assessment methods in English teaching in middle schools. Based on the literature review concerning the development of the ideas of instructional assessment and some related theories, and the findings from a survey by means of a questionnaire and an interview, the paper focuses on the discussion on the current situation and improvement of the use of formative assessment methods in middle schools’ English teaching. It introduces some new ideas about the integrated use of those methods and some specific operational instructions and emphasizes the importance of integrating various formative assessment methods. It is concluded that formative assessment is a student-centered assessment that not only arouses and develops students' interest in language learning, but also enhances their motivation and attitudes and increases their confidence in language learning and that the implementation of such a beneficial assessment still has a long way to go and many things need to be done in this regard.

摘要:作为当前评价模式的主流,形成性评价可以给教师和学生提供有用的信息来促进他们未来的发展。本文尝试探究形成性评价方法在中学英语教学的运用。基于有关形成性评价的一系列参考文献,本文通过一个采访和一个问卷调查来探寻中学英语教学中形成性评价运用的现状,提出一些见解。本文的结论是形成性评价是以学生为中心的评价方式,它不仅可以调动和培养学生学习兴趣而且增强学生学习信心,但是目前这种评价方式在实施中还存在很多问题,还需要进一步完善。
