Abstract:Listening, the most widely used language skill, is often used in conjunction with speaking, reading and writing in daily life. A number of people have frequently made the point that, of the total time in an individual is engaged in communication, approximately 9% is devoted to writing, 16% to reading, 30% to speaking,and 45% to listening (Hedge ,2000:228). However, among the four skills, foreign language learners often complain that listening is one of the most difficult skills to acquire. Some middle school students are found to perform poorly in listening. This paper used questionnaire and interview to investigate listening problems existing among students in Yuxi No.6 Middle School. Form data collected, the author found some factors which affect their listening comprehension. Strategies and teaching suggestions are put forward to improve the listening teaching.

中文摘要:听力在日常交流中起着重要的作用,它是连接口语、阅读和写作的主要纽带。Hedge指出:在日常生活的交流中,写作大约占9%,阅读占16%,口语占30%,而听力却占到了45%。由此可见,听力在社会交流中不可或缺。然而,在这四个基本语言技能中,听力是最难掌握的,这一点在中学生的外语学习中表现最为突出。本文采用了问卷调查和访谈两种方式,调查研究了玉溪六中初二年级学生存在的听力问题,根据调查结果,分析找到了一些影响六中初二年级学生听力的障碍因素,并给出解决这些问题的建议和提高有效听力教学的策略。
