Abstract: The present paper is to study the application of multiple intelligence theory to the teaching of English reading in junior high schools. This study is undertaken to testify whether the application of MI theory in English reading class is rewarding, with a view to testifying whether the application of MIT in English reading teaching will arouse students’ interest and build up their confidence in learning English and whether students’ test grades will be improved or not when MIT is applied in reading teaching. The findings of the study show that the MI-based reading approach has been proved to be effective in enhancing students’ reading proficiency, cultivating pupils' reading interest and motivating them to get involved in classroom activities.

摘要:  本文意在研究多元智能理论在初中英语阅读教学的运用,用此研究来检验在英语阅读中采用多元智能理论是否值得。本文意在达到以下目标: 第一,在英语阅读中运用多元智能理论,是否能引起学生兴趣并且能树立他们学习英语的信心。第二,在英语阅读中运用多元智能理论,是否能提高学生的学习成绩。此研究表明,基于多元智能理论的阅读教学能有效提高学生的阅读能力,提高学生的阅读兴趣,并能促使学生积极参与课堂活动。
