Abstract:This thesis analyzes some problems existing in present English vocabulary teaching. Pointing out some examples, it deals with the vocabulary teaching strategy in middle school after doing some analysis of the vocabulary teaching in present junior schools. Using object teaching method, scene teaching method, practice teaching method and compound teaching method is the right way to teach English vocabulary in junior school.

Vocabulary is the building material of a language. The key to studying English well is mastering vocabulary. English vocabulary is the basic of English study. We must lay stress on vocabulary teaching from the beginning to the end. With the development of transportation, communication, especially the Internet, mastering English well becomes more important. However, vocabulary is one of the three keys in any language study. It is the basic unit in forming language. If there were no vocabulary, there would be no language. Writing article or expressing ideas is like repairing house, vocabulary is the building material, and grammar is the building techniques. If there is no material, there is not any sentence, even if the techniques are good. No matter how he is good at grammar and pronunciation, if he has not enough vocabulary expressing his feeling or understanding, he cannot communicate with others. So, we know the importance of vocabulary in English study.
