Abstract:Games play a tremendous role in vocabulary teaching. The writer regards 3 teachers and 120 students as subjects of research who come from grade 8 in the No.2 middle school of GuCheng district of Li Jiang. The writer designs teachers’ and students’ questionnaire, interview of teachers and analyzes the statistics with SPSS. The investigation reveals (1) the current situation of game application is not optimistic in vocabulary teaching of junior schools. 80% teachers still apply traditional word-list way to teach vocabulary. (2) The teachers consider it difficult to carry out game teaching in the rural junior school. (3) The teachers take playing game as a time-consumed activity. (4) However, the students expect their teachers wield game to teach, to arouse their interest for learning English.
