Abstract:Phonetics is the basis of mastering language knowledge and the verbal skills. The development of English teaching starts from English phonetic teaching, and phonetic teaching lays a foundation for students' English learning. In recent years, an increasing number of experts and scholars pay attention to the study of English phonetic teaching.
The author analyzes the present situation of English phonetic teaching in Mingjue Middle School through literature research, questionnaire and interview and finds problems the school has in English phonetic teaching such as the English teachers' professional quality is low, the school curriculum is not reasonable, the local dialect has great influence on English phonetic teaching etc. According to these problems, the author puts forward such corresponding solutions as employing a few professional English teachings and having the teachers here trained to raise their professional level, setting up curriculum reasonably according to the requirements of our nation and improving teachers' comprehensive quality.
Through writing this thesis, the author hopes to get better understanding of the English phonetic teaching’s present situation in our country, especially in Mingjue Middle School, and brings some positive impact on local English phonetic teaching based on the analysis of existing problems and finding out the corresponding solutions.
