Abstract: With the development of all fields of China, the cooperation with other countries has already been a common thing. English, the language of the world, has been laid a solid foundation in modern society. Therefore, learning English has become a hot topic for all walks of life. In the educational field, how to improve effectively the level of English learning has been the key problem for English teachers and English learners. Not only should we consider the grades, but we need also pay attention to the interests for English learning of the students. From amount of theories of psycholinguistics, we can easily know that people’s motivation of learning English is basically proportional to the results of their behavior forms correspondingly. The more intense the motivation is, the more apparent the result is. So studying the motivation of students’ English learning is the crucial point for us. If we can learn the students’ motivation of learning English, we will have proper means to use our teaching strategies in teaching process. However, we may find that some students don’t have any motivation for learning English at all. Thus, as an English teacher, we need find out and analyze why these students lack motivation and favorable impression for learning English. For our students, the age stage of them, 12-15 years old, is in a huge changeable condition. As English teachers, we should keep students be active and full of passion for English learning, and then the motivation derived from the passion will contribute to the practical application in the future.
This thesis mainly combines the Theory of Motivation, the specific behavior of middle school students and the Strategies of English Teaching to study the motivation of the middle school students and how to stimulate the motivation of them, and the purpose is to arouse the interests of the middle school students, lay a firm foundation for English, and help the English teacher enhance their teaching levels and have a deeper cognition to their students.
