Abstract
This dissertation is based on the studies of word formation and many current researches on using word formation to teach English. The application of word formation in English teaching is discussed in this dissertation, including the way to use word formation to teach, to review the vocabulary and in the examination. It is pointed out that since words change as time passes by, one of main tasks in primary school English teaching is to teach the ways to learn and lay a firm foundation for the further study. The significance to use word formation in primary school English teaching is also revealed.
