Abstract:This paper mainly studies alienation of human nature in the science fiction called The Left Hand of Darkness. It has gained its fame by obtaining Nebula Award and Hugo Award. And the author, Ursula Guin is a master of science fictions. Considering rarity of female writers in the science fiction circle, The Left Hand of Darkness is special and worthwhile to study for the western inner world. This thesis is divided into three chapters: the first chapter discusses the economic and political conditions and gender dividing; the second chapter makes a contrast of the differences between planet Gethen and other alienation-related works and realities; the third chapter discusses social spiritual predicament in The Left Hand of Darkness.
