Abstract
An increasing number of foreigners would like to have a better understanding of Chinese culture nowadays due to flourishing tourism worldwide. However, different languages and cultural backgrounds make it difficult for foreign tourists to fully understand many Chinese tourist texts, including travel brochures and signs in scenic spots. Therefore, tourist translation should be treated on the basis of intercultural communication to meet the needs of readers. The irony is that many problems still exist in today's C-E tourist translation. The thesis helps summarize typical problems in current tourist translation, dig out the sources of them and provide some solutions to deal with these problems respectively with vivid analysis of examples in our society.
Key words: tourist translation, pragmatic translation, cross-cultural communication
