Abstract
Uncle Tom, a controversial character in the writing of a famous American female writer Harriet Beecher Stowe, is a vivid character who makes a significant contribution to not only the American literature and the world literature, but also to the liberation movement. The purpose of this paper is to analyze Uncle Tom’s character, as well as the causes of his personality according to a large number of examples. Through deep analysis and comparison of the evaluation of international community on Uncle Tom, the author has come to the conclusion that Uncle Tom is the supreme model of human spirit, and his loyalty, kindness, courage and other good traits are worth learning.
