Abstract
Aesthetics and Translation Studies have a natural inner link. The combination of the aesthetics and translation studies is one of the development directions of translation studies. Whether in theory or in practice, aesthetics have certain reference significance for translation, especially literary translation.
The perfectly master of both Chinese and western culture and Chinese and English languages of Lin Yutang laid a solid foundation for his accomplishments in terms of translation. He put forward his standards for translation: faithfulness, fluency and aesthetic quality. From the translation of Tao Yuanming’s The Peach Colony, it is visible that his transfer techniques in Chinese and English are skillful. To a large extent, translation and writing are unable to be separated. As the first translator in the history of China who put forward the translation theory of aesthetics, Lin Yutang for the first time put forward the translation aesthetic thought, which has a profound influence on the Chinese translation field.
