Abstract:Globalization makes interactions between people who come from different countries more frequent so that it brings tourism booming. There are a great number of foreign visitors in Lijiang. What’s more, public signs are regarded as “city face” which reflect overall cultural quality, morality and spirit of a tourist area. It is of great importance. However, there are many mistakes in C-E translation of public signs which cause very bad influence on image of a city. This paper has detailed explanation about public signs. It also analyzes C-E translation of public signs in Lijiang tourist area from the perspective of Skopostheorie. In addition, there are also corresponding strategies to correct the translation mistakes in order to reach a better communication purpose and improve the city’s image.
