Abstract:The famous short story Good Country people reveals the seemingly kind-hearted country folks in a nearly closed society by depicting the typical life of the southern United States in the mid-20th century, exposing the hidden psychological activities of the protagonists. And contrasting its kind appearance with the distorted inner heart, paving the way for the unexpected ending of the novel, highlighting the main theme of the novel, this article will analyze the distortion of the main characters in Good Country people from Freud's psychoanalysis psychological. At the same time, the protagonist's psychological state is attributed to the backward economy and culture of the South in the early stage of American social development and their childhood experiences, thus further pointing out the importance of spiritual integrity.
