Abstract:By using the research methods of literature study, comparative study and text analysis, based upon Erich Fromm’s theory of human needs and the theory of love, this paper compares the theme of loneliness in The Little Prince and The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter, and aims at contrasting the differences of loneliness in the two works from backgrounds, characters and the symbolic images, to help readers have a deeper and more comprehensive understanding of the theme of loneliness in the two works. Through this study, the author hopes readers can find a remedy to get rid of loneliness, and avoid being trapped in the negative thoughts that consider loneliness perpetual and has no saving, and gain peace in their spirit.
