Abstract
With the development of globalization, cross-cultural communication has become the essential feature of today’s world. China, with its glamour, mystery and long history attracts an increasing number of foreigners. The popularity of tourism in China requires more accurate translations of tourist attractions because they will catch foreigners’ attention for the first sight and also directly relate to the image of tourist attractions and cross-cultural communication.
While Nanjing, one of the ancient capitals of China, boasts numerous places of interest and cultural heritage and has long been the political, cultural and economic center of south China. This paper will analyze the translation of tourist attractions in Nanjing from the perspective of functional equivalence and make reflections on the status quo of the current translations, hoping it could be of certain help to the translation of the names of tourist attractions.
