Abstract
With the rapid development of the network era, many internet neologisms emerge. It has gradually evolved into a special language variant. It is flexible, which vividly reflectspeople’s different attitudes in a pluralistic society. As a new species of the language, neologism has its specific composition in the form. Neologism arising from different backgrounds carries different cultures. Nowadays, people from different regions and cultures want to understand the concept of neologism in order to communicate more smoothly. So it requires the translator to reproduce the primitive style. The paper conducts a detailed analysis and discussion of internet neologism’s definition, origin and word formation features. Then from the perspective of functional equivalence, it sums up five translation techniques: literal translation, free translation, transliteration, annotation and blending. In conclusion, some of cultural shocks and communicational problems can be resolved by using these translation techniques.
