Abstract
Gone with the Wind is a popular American novel at the background of the American Civil War and widely spread all over the world. It depicts the experiences of Scarlett who attempts to use all possible means to help her family to come out of poverty. In the novel, Scarlett is one of main characters and often discussed. Some praise her while others criticize her. In fact, she is a real strong woman at that time. From feminism point, she is a feminist with rebellious spirit. From psychology perspective, she tries to find her needs all the time and pays any price. Also, in terms of Darwinism, she is an so strong adaptable woman that can survive in constant changes of the society. The paper makes an analysis of character’s image from those three perspectives to show a comprehensive Scarlett.
