莎士比亚著作《Hamlet》中人物个性语言的语音语调对人物性格的暗示以及对故事情节发展有极大的影响，人物通过改变语言的语音语调，来表达自己的感情，从而对接下来情节的发展造成了一定的暗示和影响作用。人物有时为了表达强调的感情或者信息时，句中代表重要信息的单词往往会重读，当说话人旨在刻意强调某一信息时，常常通过句子重音或单词中某个重读音节突出这一信息的载体，即将有关单词或音节说的特别响亮。莎士比亚有时用韵文，有时用散文；语气有时急促，有时缓慢；意义有时明朗，有时隐晦，通过人物语音语调的变化来体现了人物思想上的矛盾和变化。
The thesis aims to investigate the influence of the pronunciation of characters in Hamlet on the development of the story. The pronunciation and intonation of characters in "Hamlet" have a great impact on the development of the story. Characters express their feelings by changing the tune of voice of language, thus imply the development of the plot. People often reread mostly on the important words or sentences when the speaker deliberately designed to emphasize some certain information. Shakespeare use verse or prose to write his drama, its tune sometimes in hurried tune, sometimes in slow tune; its significance sometimes clear, sometimes obscure. Shakespeare change the tune of voice of the characters to reflect the ideological change and contradictions of the character .
William Shakespeare ( 1564-1616) is the distinguished European Renaissance dramatist and poet. He created a lot of popular literature, occupying a special place in the history of European literature, and hailed as "the human literature Zeus on Mount Olympus." Shakespeare was a master of the English language. Shakespeare's plays portray the image of hundreds of individual objects, up to the self-kings, queens, princes, down to the thieves, clowns, gravedigger. Each character has its own characteristics of the language, essentially all of the words are suitable for character identity, and each character language is not the same on different occasions. In oral communication of the plays of Shakespeare, voice tune has obvious expressive function. When someone reread a word, it is easy to make the people who listen to have a deep exaggerated impression. Duration also has certain influence on the tune expression, when stress or syllable is prolonged, the meaning of approval or sarcasm is shown. The long vowels make the language rhythm slow, while short vowels speed up the rhythm, indicating the feeling of a certain tension and terror. Intonation is very important for the language expression in the play. The basic meaning of the rising tune is actually anti affirmative, lack of clarity, subordinate and incomplete. Falling is the contrast and retention, it might express yield, try, hesitation and warning etc. Speed, pause will also affect language transfer and expression in the play.
In conclusion, on the language of communication, different speakers may use different tune, reflecting their different thoughts, attitudes and emotions. Intonation changes do not affect the meaning of the words,, but the wrong tune will cause misunderstanding of the meaning and affect language communication. So have the correct language tune, intonation and function is extremely important .(Zhang,2008)In English ,there are several pairs of two-syllable words which are identical in spelling but differ from each other on stress placement, apparently according to word class.(Meng,2006) The first character Hamlet in the play is full of mood, his dialogue is long and peaceful at first, he pretend to have no idea about his father death in order to investigate the truth. Then when he know the truth, the rhythm of his dialogue become quick and have no stop, his word just like the furious storm pour to the feudalism. The second character Claudius full of calculation. His tune is also changing through the development of the play. In the beginning, he use long sentence with slow rhythm and long sound to show his stateliness and fair, then when hamlet know the truth, the rhythm of his dialogue become quick and short, he can not wait to kill hamlet, so it called the tragedy of the play. The third Polonius is a crafty minister , he always say something in a slow way with lots of stop, he know everything but he do not want to join in , however, false coin is pass most easily upon the shrewd banker. The fourth character Ophelia is a pure girl, the rhythm of her dialogue is cheerful at first, she often say something in a quick and loud tune, she believe the true beauty in our life and praise the great of life. However, after she hurt by hamlet, the intonation of her dialogue become mess in low voice, often repeat some negative words which called her suicide. "Thousand readers, there are one thousand Hamlet," characters in the story of are very complex, and I just made a simple summary. But overall, decided the fate, Hamlet, Claudius, Ophelia, and Polonius's death more or less related to their personality characteristics, the whole tragedy play is essentially the tragic of each character . |
