Abstract: Learning strategies have great impact on language learning and there is practical significance in the study of oral English learning strategies. The present study makes a survey on the use of oral English learning strategies among non-English majors. It aims to explore the overall use of oral English learning strategies as well as the use of each strategy category: memory strategy, cognitive strategy, compensation strategy, metacognitive strategy, social strategy and affective strategy. The results show that students apply oral English learning strategies at a moderate frequency level. The most frequently used strategy is the memory strategy while the least used one is the cognitive strategy. Based on the findings of the study, some suggestions on non-English majors’ oral English teaching and learning are put forward.
