Abstract : Writing is a kind of communicating behavior which is based on language words and it is also an indispensable way of information recording and communication in all fields of human being. In the examination, writing is able to record and transmit information. And an excellent composition can help students to get high scores. However, it has been such an eternal phenomenon in my 10 years life as a student that most students dislike or even hate writing. Nowadays, writing is still a thorny problem for students as well as teachers. As an undergraduate in English teaching education, I pay special attention to students’ English writing during my participation in the process of teaching practice, the result of which is not beyond expectation. Writing is still the weak part in students’ English examination. The thesis is about the ways of improving students’ writing skills and there are three main aspects. The first one has something to do with students. Students themselves should change their attitude to English writing and learn more writing strategies. Besides, they should master the normative writing steps. The second one is about teachers. Teachers should attach more importance to English writing while they are preparing for the English teaching. The third one is that school should set specified English writing courses and make teachers and students realize the importance of English writing.
