Abstract
It is normal that there are some language errors in the process of English learning. Errors are easily to be made in English classes. All sorts of oral errors made by students in English classes are one of the disturbances for English teachers. This research investigates the current situation of using strategies of error correction of spoken English in English teaching in Middle School. The author explores prospects of strategies of error correction of spoken English used in English teaching. Then the author calls for teachers to use different strategies of error correction effectively in English teaching in order to raise the interests and motivations of students in English learning.
By doing questionnaires on English teachers and students of senior two in a Senior Middle School, the author gets to know the current situation of using strategies of error correction of spoken English in English teaching. According to the lesson records of author taken during internship, the author analyzes the application of strategies of error correction of spoken English in English teaching. The author finds that the current situation of using these strategies in English teaching is not optimistic. Most English teachers correct students’ oral errors in classes immediately when oral errors appear. As a result, it influences the fluency of students’ expression and discourage them. So the author calls for teachers to improve the reasonable utilization of strategies of error correction of spoken English and to avoid the misuse and abuse of them. The aim of exploiting the advantages of strategies of error correction of spoken English to the full is to improve students’ English learning.
