Abstract
Writing is a most difficult skill to be improved in the English learning. Errors are unavoidable in students’ writing. It is really hard to avoid making errors in Chinese students’ English writing because English and Chinese are two different languages. Many differences exist at the level of grammar, syntax and culture. Error analysis plays an important role in second language learning. It is a branch of Applied Linguistics. It will bring great help to both language teachers and language learners. It can throw some light on the process of second language learning and help teachers obtain some insights into the strategies that learners employ in the learning process. Meanwhile, it can reveal the common problems shared by the language learners through the careful study. Therefore, we should begin to analyze the college student’s writing errors so as to take full advantage of writing in language learning and know better about the learner’s learning strategies. What’s more, students’ attitude towards error treatment and their preference for error treatment are explored on the basis of the research of this paper.
