Abstract:The English extracurricular teaching and learning is becoming a salutary part in the college English teaching and learning. The author of this thesis made a survey on English majors’ extracurricular learning of Honghe University by methodologies of questionnaire and interview. The author found out several prominent problems: firstly, the English majors state that their English learning environment is not good; secondly, they have no clear after-class English learning goals and plans; thirdly, the quantity and quality of the English extracurricular activities are not so optimistic; finally, the students lack of teacher’s instructions while attending the extracurricular activities. These reasons, to a certain degree, make them inactive in participating in the extracurricular activities, which lead to the inefficiency of their extracurricular English learning. In order to solve these problems, the author attempts to put forward some suggestions, hoping for providing English teachers with some salutary references to improve the organization and management of extracurricular activities and to stimulate students’ initiatives.

中文摘要:英语第二课堂逐渐成为大学英语学习中很重要的一部分。本文作者通过问卷与访谈的形式对红河学院英语专业学生第二课堂学习的现状进行了调查。通过调查,作者发现了几个主要的问题:一是英语专业学生认为他们学习英语的环境欠佳;二是他们没有明确的学习目标和计划;三是第二课堂的数量和质量不是很理想,四是是学生在参加第二课堂活动时缺乏老师的指导。这些问题在一定程度上导致他们参加第二课堂活动的积极性不是很高,从而使他们的第二课堂学习效果不是很好。针对这些问题,笔者提出了一些建议,以期为英语教师完善第二课堂的组织和管理,调动学生参与积极性提供有益的借鉴。
