Abstract:At present, with the global development in culture, some literary works have been translated into many languages and read by readers all over the world. These literary works have their own style, and accordingly stylistic reproduction is the key of the translation. Stylistic reproduction means that the translated works should reflect the original style faithfully. It is an important principal of literary translation.
Liu Miqing’s Stylistic Marker Theory is different from traditional translation theories, emphasizes that translation cannot merely focus on the content, but should pay attention to whether the translated style is equivalent to the original style. Under the guidance of Stylistic Marker Theory, this thesis analyzes the strategies of stylistic reproduction in Fu Weici’s translation of The Moon and Sixpence and validates the feasibility of the theory. It is hoped that it can not only draw the attention from translators to the importance of Stylistic Marker Theory, but also help advance the research of stylistic reproduction in the translation of literary works.
