Abstract

 

Movie title is the soul of a movie. It is the crowning touch to the whole movie, conveys the theme of information, and determines the success of opening the domestic and foreign markets. Good movie title translation not only can realize the commercial value of the movie, but also can achieve its aesthetic value, so that the audience can get the enjoyment of beauty,the influence of the art and the cultivation of noble sentiments. Thus translation of English movie titles is gaining more and more importance and is worth studying and discussing. This paper tries to study the translation of English movie titles from the Chinese translation of English movie titles, and try to find out a solution. Translators should focus on the audience's aesthetic expectations and cultural psychology ,should take the feeling of  audience as a point, whether the audience understand and like as the main measure of standards, should take a full consideration of the factors that affect the choice of translation method.
