Abstract
With the increasing frequency of cross-cultural communication, the modes of cultural transmission are diversified, among which the commonly used one is the book. A large number of foreign books are introduced into China, with novels accounting for a large proportion. Whether or not the readers buy the novels largely depends on the novel titles which serve as the soul of the work, hence the translation of novel titles plays an essential role in the whole translation process. This paper discusses the features of novel titles and expected functions of novel title translation, based on which approaches to E-C translation of novel titles are analyzed, hoping it could be of certain help to E-C translation of novel titles.
