INTRODUCTION
The book Language And Power is an academic book written by Paul Simpson and Andrea Mayr. It offers a full investigation of how language intersects and connects with social, cultural, and political force. My task is to translate Chapters 6-9, Section A of this book. These chapters introduce how language intersects with humor, power, law, advertising and new capitalism.
Chapter Six: This chapter introduces the connection between humour, language and power. It takes many examples to highlight how humour can intersect with relationships of power in both the private and public domains.
Chapter Seven: This chapter is about language and law. It mainly stresses the importance of language in the legal process.
Chapter Eight: This chapter uses many contrasts to emphasize the appeal of advertisement in different language environment and prove the influence of language on advertising.
Chapter Nine: This chapter is about language in the new capitalism. It refers to the importance of language in bringing about the recombination of contemporary capitalism.
